Last night I watched Pride and Prejudice (2005) with Keira Knightley. This is one of my favorite love stories. I love the quirkiness of the characters and think that Keira does an excellent job of capturing Elizabeth Bennett. I've always been drawn to stories where the characters don't want to love each other but just can't seem to help themselves and Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate "we can't stand each other but we love each other." The setting is really beautiful in this movie.
Austen's lines that make it into the movie are so dry and ironic that I smile throughout the whole movie. When Mr. Collins proposes to Elizabeth and says earnestly, "And now all that remains is to assure you in the most animated language of the violence of my affection" I always laugh. Favorite line in the whole movie.
I also really like the actress, Jenna Malone, who plays Lydia. The character may be idiotic, but she does a great job. I've liked her ever since Stepmom and Saved.

Today I watched the Rescuers Down Under (1990) interspersing my school work all day. This movie always reminds me of my father because he loved it when I was younger. I think because of all the animals in it. I've just been on a Disney kick for the past few weeks and they are the ones that I know well enough to be able to follow the story when I watch it in 10 minute increments.
I have become a recent fan of Eva Gabor from watching old seasons of Green Acres. Maybe the best show I've discovered on my own in years. I also recognized the voice of the albatross, Wilbur. John Candy, who played parts in movies like Uncle Buck, Cool Runnings, Space Balls, and I'm sure many more that were before my time.
