Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) WB [7 seasons]
Gotta thank Laura for my love of this one. It's creepier than I was ready for when it was on TV but for college? It was perfect. The characters in this show are some of my favorite ever. Buffy, Angel, Faith, Xander, Willow, Giles, Anya, Cordelia, Drusilla, even Dawn. (I keep having to come back and add characters to this list!) And Spike? Best. Vampire. Ever. Kicks Edward's ass every time! This show also has some of the best and most quotable lines. They even have books of Buffy quotes. [which I'm a bit loathe to admit I've read :)] Nothing in this show is easy but you're always rooting for the characters, flawed as they may be. This show easily made my favorite show list.

Charmed (1998-2006) WB [8 seasons]
A show about three sister witches who kick warlock butt every week... what's not to love? This show isn't as dark as Buffy and I love it for that reason. I'm a big fan of fantasy, witches are warlocks are my thing, so it's no wonder I love this series. They have their share of drama with men, demons, and wanting a "normal" life. This show survived the death of one of the sisters and still managed to run for five more seasons. That's an awesome show.

Veronica Mars (2004-2007) UPN [3 seasons]
This is the only show on the list that I don't own the series, my sister does. And so does my mom. It seems a bit redundant for me to own them too. Veronica doesn't take crap from anybody but she has a serious need for revenge that drives her to make some bad choices. At the end of every show she catches the bad guy, even if she gets hurt in the process. This is another show with great lines that keep me giggling. I also love the season long mysteries, the overarching plotlines. It was masterful and one of the reasons that watching this series on DVD was even better than watching it on TV.

Honorable Mention to Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) WB (7 seasons).
I haven't watched much of this one in the past few years, and this could just be a case of "I haven't watched it recently so it's not one of my favorites at the moment." Or it could be a case of "the first three seasons were awesome but it was never as good after that." A part of me also thinks of Gilmore Girls as a show from my childhood. Out of all the shows I picked, this is the only one that I watched regularly on TV. All three of my top DVD shows I actually watched on DVD first.

Trends
They're all from about the same time period, during my high school (ish) years and they were all shows on the WB except for Veronica Mars which was on UPN. Of course then the WB and UPN merged to become the CW. And finally, they are all shows with strong, independent, and snarky women protagonists. I love to watch women kick butt while saying great one liners. I also have thing for the bad boys on the shows. My favorite love interests? Spike, Logan, Jess.. love them all. Although I think I love Leo more than Cole so that's one good guy who gets to win.
I watch a lot of current shows on DVD too. Once all those finish my repetoire will be much wider. I bet once I get through all my Friends seasons they'd make the cut too. Or Bones, once it's over. Maybe even Psych. This will be even more fun to do in ten years!
