The woman bore a scorch mark from her chin to her brow.
In the second book about the city of Bayern familiar beloved characters return, mainly Enna. Enna has returned to her forest home to care for the farm and her brother, Leifer. But soon her brother begins to act strangely, loosing his temper readily and blaming the princess for his problems... and he has the ability start a fire without the help of flint or coals.
While Enna admires the fire-making ability she isn't sure that it is a blessing, considering the change in Leifer. She is unsure about whether she would like to share that power. But when Bayern goes to war a fire witch could tip the scales in their favor and save her beloved city.
I thought that this book started off slowly but picked up once the war truly began. I was sad to see old characters facing hardships of their own making (Isi's wind is bothering her), but loved watching them grow, together and apart. The romance in this one is not overwhelming by any means but steady and strong beneath the surface. The second half of the book was more enthralling and the adventure picked up. I don't think I'm doing the book justice- especially since it was my favorite book from last week! I don't want to give away too much of the plot though and the twists and changes throughout the book were the best part.
