Inside Story [Sisters Grimm 8]

Michael Buckley. The Inside Story [Sisters Grimm 8]
Amulet Books, 2010
Middle Grade, Fantasy

The first explosion sent Sabrina flailing backward to the floor of the ancient tomb.

The Inside Story is my favorite book that I read last week. Sabrina, Daphne, and Puck followed Pinocchio and the Master into the Book of Everafter at the end of The Everafter War [Book 7]. The Master is intent upon changing his story and the girls must stop him before he manages to alter the past. And save their little brother. Unfortunately they wreck havoc upon all the stories that they must traverse to chase the Master. This incurs the wrath of the Editor who is now coming after them with his ravenous pets. With the Master ahead and the Editor behind, the girls scramble through the pages of fairy tale history to save their little brother.

Throughout the story Sabrina is also having a crisis of self doubt. She cannot find the courage to make decisions when all of her past choices have led her and her family into trouble. Betrayal cuts deep and it is leaving Sabrina paralyzed. I thought it was nice to see a different side of Sabrina in this book. Before she was always self confident and rather obnoxious, now she is at least starting to think about the consequences of her actions. But this is only beneficial is she finds the courage to make decisions again.

Puck as usual, is my favorite character. Although in this book he went on and on about him and Sabrina's future and it went back and forth between being incredibly annoying and mildly funny. Personally, I prefer when he tortures her with green slime.

And the ending of the book was my favorite "...To be concluded..."
Only one book left!
